When it comes to blogging, guest posting is a win win situation for both. The blogger writing for someone will be able to reach new audience, and the blogger hosting the writer gives his audience a new voice and a new perspective.

When I first started blogging, guest blogging seemed like more of an abuse rather than an opportunity. My thoughts to put it in words ” Why should I write for someone else? I can write the same content and promote the hell out of it on my own blog. It’s an abuse of my time and the only one that benefits is the blog that I write for. “ Right? Wrong! I gave guest posting a shot and soon my attitude changed. Guest Posting turned out to be the best thing that I could have done in terms of getting my name out there.

I first started writing for Freelance Folder and the traffic started pouring in on to my blog and since then I have been a guest blogging evangelist, so to speak. It was opportunities one after another - Lifehack, Anywired, BloggingTips, JdsBlog, PiggyBankPie, Work N Play …you name it, I might have probably done it. Some of these blogs have thousands and thousands of subscribers. You can only imagine the the traffic I gained from a short little byline that I got at the end of each post I wrote. I was hooked.

I kept on exploring, emailing bloggers, writing guest posts, building my connections and BOOM… out of nowhere I got offered a job… a paid writing gig. Imagine the excitement, the great feeling of transforming from a guest blogger to a paid writer…it’s priceless. Today, I still write for other blogs but I no longer play the guest, I get paid to be the host.

Although guest posting has spread like a wild fire in the blogosphere, there are still some bloggers who tend to think of it as a waste of their time. It’s about time you change your attitude towards guest posting. Guest posting is a step towards getting your name out there - a big step. I am glad I took that step. The rewards I have been able to reap within a short period of time is simply hard to put it in words.

Today, I write for couple blogs and I won’t hesitate to say that if I quit my day job I wouldn’t be hard pressed on money. The only reason I kept my day job is because it eliminated the need for my wife to work. Yes, I make enough a month from paid blogging that my wife is able to stay home with kids. That to me is one of the biggest achievement. She will now work if she wants to not because she has to… it’s a great feeling and none of it would have been possible if I hadn’t given guest blogging a shot.

To all who aren’t sure of guest blogging, give it a try. As long as you provide value to your host’s readers, they will come to you. It’s a ” give some get a lot “ deal. Mark my words… you are at the better end of the deal.

Before I end this post, I would like to quick point out that there are some jobs on the job board that you might want to try out. I know there are couple paid blogging gigs waiting for someone like you to take on. Go ahead, give it a shot. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
